We were surfing on the internet and we saw so many amazing ideas for upcycling. People are coming up with great ideas to up-cycle practically with any kind of material. For some time we have already been keeping a small bag for old clothes which we knew that we don’t want to just throw away. We already made couple of shopping bags for our daily use and some of the really old ones we are using for cleaning and dusting.
We decided to definitely not make another dust-catcher. As everyone, we start our day with a strong cup of coffee or chai with soya milk and we usually would get mad with the stain ring that the cup would leave. We knew we needed a coaster, so we created one at home.
How to make it? It is super simple! Just cut your clothes into strips. You can use three or two different colours. The wider you cut them, the thicker your coaster will be. But the narrower you cut them the longer it will take to braid and finish it.
Braid the strips. To finish the coaster, just roll up the braided strips. An easy way to stick it together is to use strong glue, otherwise more environment friendly solution is to stitch them together and also, it will make a coaster stronger.
